New Dimensions Soccer and SLU partner to provide service learning opportunities for students

New Dimensions Soccer partners with SLU Theology to provide service learning for students

SLU theology professor, Dr. Jay Hammond, has jumped on the trend of experiential education by partnering his classroom with New Dimensions Soccer. New Dimensions has brought soccer to urban communities in St. Louis with large immigrant and refugee populations. In after school programs, New Dimensions uses soccer to help provide character development with youth, and provides free soccer to those who cannot afford it. SLU’s Social Gospel and Sports, Religion, & Spirituality classes partnered with New Dimensions’ after school programs, providing student volunteers to help coach and mentor participants in the program.
